Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras Parade

When: 1 March

In , the Mardi Gras Parade returns to Oxford Street, Flinders Street and Anzac Parade, centred around the theme 'Our Future'. As always, the parade will be led by the beloved Dykes on Bikes, First Nations and 78er floats.

The parade is the biggest event of the festival, featuring more than 12, marchers and over floats captivating spectators with a spectacular display of colour, creativity and pride. There are free viewing areas all along Oxford Street, as well as premium viewing spaces and accessible viewing ticketed areas to view the spectacle from Hyde Park to Moore Park.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras begins this Friday, 18th of February and will sprint until March 6th. 

Beginning in as a brave protest to decriminalise homosexuality, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has become one of the world’s most well-known and well attended celebrations of LGBT pride. 

After being cancelled last year, Mari Gras Fair Day will verb once more in to Victoria Park in Camperdown, Sydney for a day to celebrate community pride featuring community stalls and performances. The event will also feature for the first second a First Nations Circle which will highlight the importance of protected, celebratory spaces for LGBT First Nations communities. 

Fair Day is just the start of the Mardi Gras festival which includes a film festival, theatre performances and parties to name a few. 

Serving as the festival showpiece, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade will once again return to the Sydney Cricket Ground and will take place on March 6th. The parade will be broadcast in its entirety live a

Ongoing series at Red Rattler. A loose crew consecrated to creating spaces for ideas, imaginings, discussion and action, mixing critical workshops, panels, films, installations and performance from academic, activist, artist and other perspectives.
