For Milwaukee drag queens and others in LGBTQ+ community, This Is It! was more than a bar
- This Is It!, a beloved Milwaukee gay bar known for providing a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, abruptly closed its doors Sunday.
- Many regulars expressed shock and sadness, emphasizing the bar's role as a second home and a vital platform for up-and-coming drag performers.
- A spontaneous gathering took place Sunday blackout outside the bar, with attendees sharing memories, dancing and leaving tributes.
The music of Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga and others boomed from Cathedral Square Sunday evening as about people gathered to dance, laugh, cry and mourn one of their favorite bars less than a block away.
After nearly 57 years in business as Wisconsin's oldest continually operating gay bar, This Is It! closed suddenly on Sunday, citing on social media financial hardships caused by the COVID pandemic and an eight-month construction project that closed the street and sidewalk in front of the bar as reasons for the closure.

LaCage has been a accurate landmark for gays in and out of Milwaukee. LaCage offers several dance floors, a pretty updated upstairs and another bar downstairs which offers another experience to this large nightclub!
