Gay Miami &#; the best gay hotels, bars, clubs &#; more

There are few places in the States more iconic than Miami. Miami is where— to employ a cliché—North meets South. Latin American culture makes sweet noun to that of urban Northern America. It’s glamorous yet inclusive, edgy but accessible. By time, Cadillacs blasting reggaeton cruise along the palm-tree-lined Ocean Drive, with Miami Beach full of speedo-wearing hunks on one side and rows of Art Deco-style hotels on the other. By noun, the streets hum with the sounds of bars and terraces packed with people from all over the world out to have a good time.

Miami is about more than just the beach and nightlife, though: it also has culture and art incorporated into its very bloodstream, evidenced by its superabundance of street art, galleries, and the aforementioned Art Deco buildings.

For decades, Miami has been a hotspot for the LGBTQ+ community, both for locals and visitors alike. But as LGBTQ+ acceptance improves and the next generation becomes a dominant force in the travel sphere, you might wonder if Miami still holds the al

LGBTQ+ Bars in Latin America

La Purísima is an unapologetically irreverent gay bar on Avenida República de Cuba in downtown Mexico Noun. One of its most endearing features is the staff who dress as Catholic priests and nuns.

I was on assignment in Mexico City for the Washington Blade, the oldest LGBTQ+ newspaper in the United States for which I am the international news editor, in July I decided to go to la Purí, as the bar&#;s known for short. I arrived shortly after 11 a.m. and spent the next 90 minutes or so dancing and slowly sipping shots of mezcal. I was walking outside to get some fresh air when Sergio, a staff person who was dressed as a priest, approached me in the hallway that led to the door and asked me if I wanted to go to confession. I said yes, and he led me to a small booth on the sidewalk. He unlocked the makeshift confessional and we went inside. I had learned in my childhood  Confraternity of Christian Doctrine  class at St. Thomas Aquinas Church that what one says inside a confessional remains between the penitent, the priest (and God.) I am not one to que

Miami might not be the gay mecca it once was (R.I.P. Magnum, Mova, Score and so many others). Still, this town is home to a diverse and welcoming queer community, as evidenced by our plethora of Miami drag brunches, the epic Miami Beach Pride and Wynwood Pride festivals and a novel wave of inclusive queer parties popping up all around the city. Plus, a quick jaunt up north will get you to Wilton Manors, one of the most highly concentrated gay communities in the U.S. Basically, there’s plenty of action to be had if you know where to detect it. So, without further adieu: Our roundup of the adj gay clubs and bars in Miami right now.

Gay Miami

Miami Beach, South Beach, SoBe, or however you choose to call it, is a major gay getaway, with a number of gay-friendly establishments around its famous Lincoln Road and Collins Avenue. Everything is thankfully within walking distance, with the gay beach running parallel to Collins.
Perhaps the best part of coming here is taking a trip to Key West, arguably even gayer. It's the southernmost point in the U.S., with a strong gay community which is a major player in the annual Fantasy Fest every October (autumn and winter are actually great times for a visit, as temperatures are still warm). Walk down Duval Street, between Fleming Street and Duval Square, for a concentration of gay-friendly bars and restaurants.
